I imagine this has been reported so if I'm in error posting please let me know.
All I want as far as the spell checker is to have it check spelling when I want it to...simple. However, if the four options on the "Spelling" tab are left unchecked, the spell checker itself is grayed out. So, I figured I'd just leave the option for "Always check spelling before sending" (that would be okay) checked but that also leaves the spell checker grayed out. The only way I can have the spell checker active is to have "Always check spelling before sending" and "Check my spelling as I type" both checked. That's NG. The spell checker on the mail screen should always be active regardless of the options you have checked on the Spelling screen so you can just click it anytime you want. It annoys me to see the squiggly underlines as I type.
