Windows Live Mail - "Message cannot be found"

I am using Windows Live Mail Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205).

I have a number of storage folders, each containing emails I saved there, having moved them from my "Inbox".

When I endeavor to open any of those emails, the following message appears:

"Message cannot be found

The contents of this message cannot be found. "

Just now, I created a new 'test' storage file and moved a new email (we'll call it 'Email A') from my Inbox to that test folder. When I then tried to open Email A, what appears is not Email A, but, instead, an email from the storage folder immediately below the 'test' storage folder. Needless to say, when I try to open emails in that storage folder immediately below the 'test' storage folder, I get 'message cannot be found", even though the very email I'm looking for showed up in the test storage folder (where it should not have been).

It seems that the stored emails are SOMEWHERE on my hard drive, but are no longer synched (if that's the right word) properly with the storage folders.

I am NOT computer-savvy.  I've read some of the answers to the same question, but frankly, they were over my head.

Although I was able to find the version of Live Mail I'm using and the build number, that's about the limit of my skill.

So, when you respond, please do not be reluctant to dummy it down for me.

Thank you.
