New messages to my .msn account go the the deleted folder automaticall

Hi,

I'm having a frustrating issue with my msn email account that began a few days ago after installation of the latest round of Microsoft updates.  Here are the particulars:

  • Incoming emails to my msn account stay in the "inbox" folder for varying lengths of time, ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes.  These emails are then moved to the deleted folder whether I open them first or not.  However, they are not automatically deleted.
  • Issue began a few days ago after the latest round of Microsoft updates were installed.
  • This happens across multiple devices, including two PCs and a smart phone.
  • I use Windows Live Mail as the client (part of Microsoft Essentials).
  • The same issue happens in gmail.  That is, I linked my .msn account to my gmail and the .msn messages go from the inbox to the "trash" folder in gmail automatically.  Same with Thunderbird - the same sequence happens.  It seems to me that the problem lies at a higher level than at the email client.
  • I have removed my .msn account and added it again to Live Mail - it did not correct the problem.
  • I have uninstalled Essentials 2012 and reinstalled.  No correction.
  • I then uninstalled Essentials 2012 and installed 2011 - no correction.
  • I checked the rules area of Live - there are no rules recorded.  To make sure, I hit the delete key multiple times in the rules area.  No correction.
  • I changed my .msn password - no correction.
  • I checked my Outlook.com settings and could see nothing wrong there.  I could not find any settings that dealt with moving inbox items to the deleted folder but it sounds reasonable that there is such a setting and that I am missing it.

Anyone have any suggestions?  If there is a setting re:  sending inbox items to the deleted folder, I would really appreciate very specific guidance in how to access those settings.

Thanks so much for your help.

Tom R.
