Good Morning
I have a new computer and I'm trying to set up an email on Windows Live 2011. It's a windows 8.1, but the program downloaded fine, I added in the email address and it has received all the past emails from the account and new ones. I've tried Googling the problems first instead of asking, but I haven't been able to find a solution yet.
The firewall I have is Windows Firewall and the AV is Windows Defender. The computer already had McPhee installed on it, but I uninstalled it as I want to use the ones stated in the previous sentence. I've changed the Firewall settings to allow Windows Live Mail.
When I try to send emails it gives me this message:
The connection to the server has failed.
Subject 'Re: Birthday'
Server: 'mail.bigpond.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10060
On the old computer the email address stopped working a few days before we got the new computer. I haven't found a solution on that computer either. The only thing difference is the location. I'm using the computer six hours from where I normally am (laptop), but we have wireless connection and it works perfectly on the new computer.
I'm competent on computers, but do not understand much computer lingo, so I don't understand what it's trying to tell me at all when emails don't send.
