Help!! Just got a new laptop with Windows 8.1, I don't want to use the mail app as I want more functionality so installed Windows Live Mail and added my email account (it's Rogers/Yahoo - not a windows based email) and after it's been set up I can't receive/send any mail at all. I keep getting the message
Unable to send or receive messages for the Rogers (xx) account. The email server returned an error.
Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR Cannot connect to POP server 98.139.212.159 (98.139.212.159:110), NB connect error 1460
Server: 'pop.broadband.rogers.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC90
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
I have tried changing to port 587 and 110 with "server requires authentication" checked. I had two antivirus programs running, I disabled one and temporarily disabled the mail scanning on Avast and still no luck. I'm able to access via Windows Live Mail via my old laptop still and on my iphone. I changed the push settings on my phone as well to see if that would help - no luck. I've checked the settings and enabled "leave a copy of the message on the server". I've been surfing the forums and tried every suggestion I found to no avail! I'm wondering - is the issue that POP mail is not compatible with 8.1, I read that the mail app isn't but don't know if that applies to Live. Someone please help - I've wasted hours on this already. Thanks in advance for any replies!
