I am trying to fix an issue for my mother, so I have little idea of what she may or may not have done without knowing to mess things up.
She uses Windows Live Mail to send and receive emails. Recently, she has lost her ability to send emails. The error message says the settings for her outgoing mail server (SMTP) may need to be configured. It then says that, to find the server settings for the recipient's email address, you need to contact the email service provider. That appears to me to indicate that Windows Live is trying to access the outgoing server settings while using the recipient's email address, instead of her account name. I have not been able to find a way to find out if this is what is happening, or how to fix it.
So far, I have ensured that outgoing messages are not being interfered with by her antivirus program, checked all of the incoming and outgoing server settings in Windows Live (they were correct), and searched the forums for the same problems. I've found a few similar issues, but no indication of different things to try, or an indication that the problems were resolved. Any help, geniuses of the interwebs?
