Error 0x0800CCC0F when trying to receive email using Windows Live Mail

Unable to send or receive messages for the Randy account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Server: 'inbound.att.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Secure(SSL): Yes

The above is the error I get when trying to receive email with attachments. I have tried disabling Norton AV for email with no success. If I move the email using ATT Yahoo to Spam then the rest of my emails without attachments can be received. If I move the mail back to Inbox I get the above error again. AT&T claims no responsibility as I can receive and send other emails through the servers. Microsoft wanted to charge me to look at the issue or suggested I purchase Outlook to replace Live Mail. My position is that Microsoft should fix their Live Mail product instead of attempting to force clients to purchase something they really don't need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
