Cannot receive or send messages

I just got a new computer. My email runs as it should. However, my husband's email account shows the message "Windows Live Mail is synchronizing this account. Check back in a few minutes to read your messages." Then, a log-in box is shown. After logging in, a bigger box opens that says there were errors while processing the requested task. The error box in empty, but the task box shows "Task: Check for new messages on 'Msn (leepeters8666)' " with the word "canceled" appearing under status. I've deleted the account and then added it again, but nothing changes. I've tried several fixes mentioned, but nothing works. Can someone help?
