Hi. I have three @rogers.com email accounts (pop3 server). I am running WLM2011 and Windows 7 on an HP laptop. Two of my accounts work perfectly. For the third, (of course my main one) I always get the message:
Unable to send or receive messages for the Rogers (xxxxxy) account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Server: 'pop.broadband.rogers.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Secure(SSL): Yes
In spite of this error message, it seems as if I can send emails, just not receive them. Everytime the computer tries to send/receive messages, the green status bar goes a third of the way saying receiving list of messages from server and then stops -
the note on top often changes to "Windows Live Mail (not responding)", then the hourglass comes on until the dreaded red X appears. I am pretty certain that I made sure that there is no virus protection/firewall which could be causing this.
I have deleted the email account and re-added it, at first it seemed to receive emails and then when I next went to check the computer, the error message was up again and it no longer works.
I had the same issue with WLM 2009 and updating to WLM 2011 did not repair it at all.
I made sure all my account properties settings are correct. Nothing seems to fix this and I am super frustrated. Can anyone figure out a fix for this issue, although I can get my emails signing into a Yahoo page, I much prefer using WLM and have spent
hours trying to resolve this on my own.
For your information, I called Rogers numerous times about this problem and, of course, they said it was not their issue but rather a problem with WLM.
Thanks,
Deb
